Winter of WeirdKnits
July 26th, 2005 by Crumpet
So, when I was making dinner, it occurred to me that I am currently churning my way through the silliest knits ever. I can’t seem to stop. While all the cool kids are off enjoying their summer of lace, and possibly many glorious picnics and tea parties, and all those other things that lace makes you think of, I’m knitting… pies, monster slippers, rabbit hats and Henry Rollins dolls. In the cold.
But I love them.
And so do lots of other people, apparently. I get a big head every time I check my stats, realise that I have double the hits so far this month than any other this year, and then go and check all my delicious referrals. Yes. I’m a geek. That’s why I wrote a pattern for KNITTED PIE.
On another note entirely, I’ve decided to check out Etsy, a new place to buy and sell handmade things. I’ve listed two scarves and a watercolour painting (under the name CrumpArt), so somebody go buy them, alright!?!

ME WANT FOOTSIES!!! ME WANT ALL THE FOOTSIES!
July 26th, 2005 by Crumpet

I’ve finally finished the Monster Slippers for Mr Crumpet, after a week and a half of them sitting there, done, waiting for me to stick on all the bits. ![]()

What word is that?
July 23rd, 2005 by Crumpet
As I couldn’t decide whether or not I like snow (as it doesn’t snow where I live, I haven’t had much contact, so I’m endlessly fascinated and think that it’s beautiful. But I have the sinking suspicion that if I did live in a snowy place, I’d absolutely hate it due to the cold…), I did The Book Quiz twice, and was delighted with both answers. ![]()

Sydney
July 23rd, 2005 by Crumpet
Mr Crumpet and I arrived home last night (well, technically very early this morning), and despite both being horribly flu-ridden*, we had a good time. Thankfully my flu (I don’t know if it’s a new one or a relapse of what hit me a couple of weeks ago) didn’t really arrive until last night, so I was able to enjoy myself properly.

Flights of fancy.
July 19th, 2005 by Crumpet
Tonight I vacuumed so that I won’t feel so embarrassed about Iain and Tara seeing our horribly messy house. They’ll be coming over for the next few days to feed and walk the pups while Mr Crumpet and I are on our mini-Sydney-holiday.
We were supposed to go to Sydney for something-or-other this time last year, but then we had to move house, and to top that off, our car was broken into and completely trashed on our first night in said house. So, we postponed our plane tickets for a year. And now we get a random mini-holiday! Hooray! There’s an upside to everything. I may even make it to a Stitch’n'Bitch while I’m in Sydney. It all depends how brave I feel.

Puppy Pi
July 18th, 2005 by Crumpet
As noted in my pie pattern, one of the knitted things I used for inspiration was the Kitty Pi cat bed by Wendy. I liked it so much that I didn’t just stop with knitted pie — I made Henry a Puppy Pi bed as well!

Pie pattern is up!
July 17th, 2005 by Crumpet
Click here to see my free knitting pattern for Slapstick Pie!
Due to popular demand, I wrote the pattern up, got a couple of permissions from the pattern designers I blatantly ripped off used for inspiration, and have uploaded it all. I look forward to seeing many photos of stuffed pies, well, stuffed in people’s faces.
I plan on adding a whole section to the site for free patterns and stencils, so stay tuned.
Edited to add: someone just posted this link in my pie thread on Craftster. It cracked me up. ![]()
