The printer has landed.

November 30th, 2005 by Crumpet

About frakking time.

After a week (an angry, angry week) of trying to track down our overnight delivery of a $500+ laser printer (my old printer bit it not too long ago, and we decided to invest a little extra and get something that will last and be economically superior), which included us driving out to the TNT depot to try and pick it up, it’s finally, finally here.

Now we can print out a letter of compaint to send to TNT, asking for a refund on our delivery costs…

An extra special collector’s edition?

November 29th, 2005 by Crumpet

Yesterday I bought this on sale. I was very excited.

limited edition narnia cover

It was shrink-wrapped, and I had to get back to work, so I didn’t open it straight away.

Now I’m trying to figure out if I should return it, or keep it as an extra special collector’s edition…

very limited edition narnia innards?

Not me. Never.

I didn’t just discover Braeside Alpacas and order a bunch of lovely alpaca and mohair tops. No. Not at all.

Here’s some quick pictures of my new iPod cozy!

It’s knit from my beloved Noro ‘Kureyon’ in shade 126. Basically, I found a cable chart I liked in The New Knitting Stitch Library by Lesley Stanfield (which I picked up for $10 or so in hard cover a while back from the little book selling place [not the big evil Borders that I will never enter because they don’t deserve to be on Lygon St in the realm of Readings and the little book selling place] in the Nova cinema complex) and knit it on 3.5mm needles until it was long enough to fold over, making a pocket big enough for the iPod. I also added a little buttonhole-esque style thing for my earphones/remote control to run through, and some decreases and a buttonhole on the front flap. It turned out that the cable was too narrow for the iPod, so I found some green in the Noro, picked up the stitches along each long edge of my big rectange, and knit a few rows in seed stitch (I find that the Noro looks gorgeous in bumpy textures) until the cable was the same width as the 4cm or so of stocking stitch that I started the cozy with. The I folded the cozy up, sewed the side seams and looked at it lovingly for a good long while. :) I’m very glad I didn’t bother to write a pattern or plan anything much with it, because it turned out far better than I could have imagined it would.

I was looking through Craftster tonight, and thought the hat on this thread looked a little familiar… :)

O. M. G.

I really should check my website stats more often.

While I sit here and type under the delusion that I have approximately five readers, 8581 of you have visited my website this month (well, less than that if you subtract a goodly bunch of web spiders, but still lots indeed). My previous record was 3040 in June, when I posted the infamous knitted Slapstick Pie pattern. I’m still getting links to the pie, and lots lots lots of you are looking at the Chocolate Ribbed Hat pattern — send me pics if you make anything! I want to see!

So, um, yeah, hi. Maybe I’ll just keep pretending I have five readers for a while…
