The Day of Rockening.

What a way to pop my Eurovision cherry.
Really, I never envisioned myself cheering at the television the way I did.

I love RSS feeds.
May 21st, 2006 by Crumpet
Yesterday, while checking all my blog RSS feeds, I clicked on Neil Gaiman’s latest post and saw a link to Amazon, showing Absolute Sandman: Volume 1 in hardcover at roughly 85% off. That’s $100 down to $15. After staring open-mouthed at my computer for several minutes, I called Mr Crumpet over and pointed at my screen, at which point he raced back to his own computer and immediately ordered it.
If I hadn’t read that post until today, I would have been sad. Let’s hope that Amazon honours the (probably several thousand) orders that went through at that price…

OMG!
May 19th, 2006 by Crumpet
A new nephew! Already!
Baby Thomas was born around 1pm this afternoon. Approximately three weeks early, but still normal baby size. So early, in fact, that his mother just went on maternity leave yesterday. I haven’t finished knitting yet. Half a sleeve, buttons and blocking to go.
So, the Andrew baby score is…
1. Andrew MrCrumpet’sBrother + sister-in-law = 1 baby girl, Caitlin
2. Andrew MyBrother + sister-in-law = 1 baby boy, Thomas
3. Gizo + Kym = still cooking. My entry for the baby sweepstakes is “girl”, and I’m sticking by it…
Pictures tomorrow night!

Whiplash — “Yarn”
May 15th, 2006 by Crumpet

This week the theme for whiplash is yarn.
I knit my first jumper (read “sweater” for you American folk). I’ve worn it and loved it, and now it’s deciding to retire. There are holes in the sleeves. It’s starting to unravel. It was top down raglan style, knit all in the round from green and gold yarn called “Zebra”, that I bought for $1 a ball on sale. This is a tribute to my very first jumper. It’s a collograph print made from some other knitting, and a little jumper-shaped stencil.

A tiny update.
May 10th, 2006 by Crumpet
Hooray! My back got better all by itself, even though people were telling me left, right and centre to go to a chiropractor. Also, today was the official finishing day for the edition of twelve 3-plate aquatint prints — after five or so weeks, I like what I ended up with, and now I never have to print those gorram plates again!
Also, now all that is over, I’ll be able to record a new FreakPods podcast.
Oh, and I love Fred, and the 500g of alpaca that I bought my mum and dad bought for me from the Creswick Mills on the weekend is so dreamy. It’s like spinning clouds.
