As I was FTPing images to my website today, I noticed the tendency I have to name almost all the yarn I spin after food.
Here is Liquorice Allsorts. Two skeins consisting of a strand of my black Christmas fleece plied with all the ends of scrap yarn I’ve been collecting and tying together in a big ball since I started knitting.

The white yarn underneath is 100g, or two skeins of two-ply alpaca from the 500g of fleece that my mum and dad bought from the Creswick Alpaca Mills for me. Here’s a closeup.

I used one skein to knit a pair of mittens for myself (it’s sooooo soft), which soon turned into a pair of mittens for my nephew, who celebrated his birthday last week.

I didn’t think a four (or five? i’ve lost count) year old boy would really appreciate white mittens (if, indeed, he’ll appreciate hand spun, hand knit alpaca mittens at all…), so I broke out the food colouring and dyed them his favourite colour.

The dye didn’t completely exhaust in that run, so I added a little yellow and made the other skein of alpaca (and the remainder of the first skein) into Bsgetti.

its…yarntastic! loving the allsorts!
