Alert the authorities! I didn’t just send out a swap package on time, I sent it out a week early! OMG!
I sent ten of these Artist Trading Cards out for the Glitter ATC Swap, and I have six left if anybody else wants to swap with me (four of them aren’t shown here… the photos were out of focus…).
I started with some prints on heavy paper (lincut and woodcut prints layered on top of one another), which I then cut up to make the ATCs.

Priorities warp when you become a knitter. The other day at work, I was cold. So instead of buying a piece of clothing (like a normal person), I went and bought some wool and needles. I stayed cold for the rest of the day, but now I have this adorable little seal-shaped scarflet:

And earlier this week, I was so engrossed in my knitting that I forgot to get off the tram. And what exciting, show-stopping number was I knitting? A freaking washcloth. It’s all one colour, because I only have one colour of cotton in DK weight (Shock! Horror!)

And why have I been so busy finishing UFOs, making washcloths, knitting neckwarmers and starting socks? I made a mistake on Eunny Jang’s Deep V Argyle Vest, and I need to frog five or so rows. Soon. I promise.

On July 15, our beautiful puppies turned 5 (or 35) and 6 (or 42). We celebrated with fresh market bones and badly lit arty photographs.

I recently cleaned up the house a bit, and this included stacking all my knitting/spinning/crafting books on a set of drawers next to the heater in my studio. This turned out to be an excellent idea, as every time I need to warm myself (which is quite often in this house…), I flip through one of the books. Tonight I picked up my copy of The Yarn Harlot’s At Knit’s End, and opened to this quote, which I proceeded to write out and stick on my wall…

And the expanded view…?

It’s been languishing in my UFO bag for a year. The body was too short (for me, not the pattern — I’ve come to the conclusion that my body is just way longer than Stefanie Japel’s), and I just couldn’t bear frogging all that ribbing at the time. Now I’m in love.

I remember reading on a blog somewhere that some people didn’t understand the concept of knitting an extremely warm jumper with short sleeves. The answer to that is “Melbourne weather” and “jackets”.
The yarn is a Lincraft number from last year called ‘Uma’ (wool/mohair/acrylic/nylon) knit together with a strand of blue wool. The trimmings are Patons ‘Bluebell’.
Dude, weird shit is happening when I post this. WTF is up…? (edit… turns out i’m an idiot…! )
Anyway, Seven Things
I totally stole this meme from Tally.
7 Things I Cannot Do:
1. Whistle.
2. Consistently turn up on time.
3. Keep a tidy house.
4. Be near cockroaches.
5. Buy plain black shoes or clothing of my own free will (I have to wear all black to work though, unfortunately…)
6. My own tax return (or anybody else’s, for that matter).
7. Nothing. I always have to be doing something, no matter how small.
…Edited to add: 8. Write a blog post without having to go back and edit it.

Turns out all the hard work and lack of sleep was worth it.
(You know, not that I take too much stock in what other people think of me or anything… ahem… of course I didn’t check these results the first minute I could… then run and post them to teh interwebs! /embarrassment)

(PS. DI does not = dickhead, nor HD hella dickhead. DI = distinction, HD = high distinction)
