Determination. A David and Goliath story.
Just as the Birds of Prey show finished at Healesville yesterday, Mr C noticed this ant take down a wasp. It then proceeded to drag/carry the dead wasp back home. It was a race against time to switch the lenses on the camera and shoot this, and Mr C had taken so many photos during the show that I actually ran out of room on the card, so this is the best I could get.
I think we can all learn something from the ant…

Wasps are an introduced species and pest here. I’m happy for the ants to make a meal of them.

an amazing spectacle, to be sure. hope the ant has a good chiropractor? or at least a few free beers back at the nest after that effort…
