In the past couple of weeks I’ve been tagged twice to do one of those blog meme things where I have to tell you all seven random things about myself. I feel like I’ve been thinking about myself far too much lately, what with the 100 things I told you not too long ago, and the project I’m doing on “The Self” for class. But what the hell, I’ll do it anyway…
1. I’m basing the project on myself on my wishy-washy art school knowledge of science. I started by researching cosmology, and finding an old joke about how physicists reduce everything to a sphere in order to simplify their problems and find a solution. So I started to think about myself in the simplest terms, about reducing my persona to the simplest forms. I continued on the science route and decided to make 23 pairs (Ã la DNA/chromosomes) of circular shaped prints on translucent silk, which I plan on sewing together to create a whole. Each print is made up of two lithographs (so there’ll be 46 different prints in total) that relate to each other and represent one thing about me.
2. I find that blogging helps immensely when you’re in an embarrassing situation. At least you get a good blog post along with your potential humiliation. Case in point, my two favourite random thoughts yesterday were “thank god I’m wearing underwear” and “geez, I really should have used Mr C’s industrial strength deodorant today instead of my hippy stuff”.
3. I get my period every 28 days like clockwork. Even when I stopped taking the pill (I got sick of pumping hormones into my system after five or so years…), exactly 28 days later I had my period, which made me wonder if the pill actually did anything except alter me physically in certain areas of my body. Today is clockwork day.
4. My favourite underpants have Astroboy on them.
5. I’ve just finished listening to The Life of Pi that I got for free from the TWIT/Audible offer. Good stuff.
6. We’re having pie for dinner to celebrate. Leopard Pie* though, not Bengal Tiger pie.
7. In just over a month we’re flying to the Northern Territory for a two week holiday and my sister’s wedding, where I’ll be a bridesmaid. We don’t have shoes yet. This may be a problem.
I’m not tagging anyone in particular. Feel free to nominate yourself tagged if you so wish.
