Scampish Behaviour.

June 28th, 2007 by Crumpet

Spine

About a week ago, I noticed a macro lens sitting on Mr Crumpet’s desk, and assumed that we’d borrowed it from Steve again. When I showed Mr C the picture above, he mentioned that *coughhedidn’tborrowthatlenscough*, and I was stunned into silence for a moment, caught somewhere between a sense of delight and a sense of horror at how much money he’d just spent.

Falling.

This morning, while discussing how little money we have, I mentioned the recent purchase of the macro lens again.

And I found out that Mr C *coughboughtthelensbackinMarchcough* and was PRETENDING ALL THIS TIME that it was Steve’s lens… he’s even been loaning it to Steve for extended periods so that I wouldn’t catch on that it was ours and get angry with him!

MotherCINECASTING! sons of CINECASTERS!

June 26th, 2007 by Crumpet

I just followed Extreme Craft to this link that tells you what your blog is rated in “film” terms.

Apparently, my blog is…

ZOMG

…because I said sex twice and ass once.

Mr Crumpet got the same rating because he said fuck twice and crappy once.

So I tried a few others and got progressively angrier.

Alex is apparently…

GRRRRRR

Why? Because he said shit twice and…

gay once.

What is wrong with this picture?

Stupidheads.

Growth.

June 26th, 2007 by Crumpet

A little ink painting I did on the night of my lithography assessment, just added to my Etsy shop. It felt good to do something so quick and expressive after months of process oriented printmaking.

growth

This reminds me of something that happened at uni a couple of months ago. I was talking with a couple of the other second years — one does very abstract and expressive work, is quiet and reserved, and has a wickedly dry sense of humour; the other does really beautiful, intricate, precise work. The latter person was talking about how her partner is trying to teach her to be more expressive in her work, and she said that she doesn’t think she’s made an expressive mark since early high school.

About a minute later, the other student, maintaining a perfectly straight face, replied with, “What, when somebody bumped you…?”

For about a week, no matter where I was, I would think of that and burst into loud, uncontrollable laugher. It was brilliant.

Shoes, knitting and lists.

June 25th, 2007 by Crumpet

I’m slowly crossing stuff off the list of Things That Need To Be Done Before We Go Away.

I bought new sneakers.

New Shoes.

I bought bridesmaid shoes (yes, leather — I was desperate. It’s hot where we’re going but winter here, so nice, inexpensive summery shoes in our sizes to match our dresses were hard to find.)

More New Shoes.

Here’s the rest of the list:

Mow back yard and front yard.
Find people who can check in on our house a few times while we’re gone.
Clean house so that people who are checking on it don’t assume someone has broken in.
Finish hand-colouring Kaylee prints and put them in the shop. (Edited to add: I think I’ll leave this until after the trip. I don’t really want to be dealing with shop stuff while we’re away.)
Watch The Passion of Joan of Arc and return it to the library.
Make the long overdue prizes for the Alphabet Shoot photography competition.
Make wedding present.
Do enormous pile of ironing. Find summer clothes at bottom of pile.
Wash dogs.
Register dogs.
Organise dogs food for the next fortnight.
Take dogs to Mr C’s mum’s house.
Get hair cut and dyed. (Vetti, what is the name of the hairdresser you like? What day does the guy who cuts my hair badly every time have off?)
Succumb to female beauty standards. (Get bits waxed.) (Edited to add: ran out of time and money. Bought a razor.)
Buy stuff I need from Lush. (Thankfully there’s a Lush in Darwin. I think.)
Pay rent.
Buy books.
Make plate for cool printmaking project.
Pack up tent, sleeping bag and airbed.
Get a pump for the airbed.
Pack everything else.
Organise ride to airport.
Make jewellery for wedding.

Am I forgetting anything?

Also, I made some baby hats. One has been sent to my favourite podcaster. One is for my nephew Tom. I’m going to write up the pattern and put it on the site. Any fun name suggestions for the pattern are welcome. :)

I Haven't Thought Of A Witty Name For This Hat Yet.

Phoenix

June 24th, 2007 by Crumpet

Phoenix

This is my favourite, favourite print ever so far. It’s from my lithography class this year and depicts the phoenix constellation (well, my version of the phoenix constellation, anyway — I highly doubt it’s scientifically accurate). I’ve made an edition of four printed on heavyweight Magnani paper. One is for me. Three two are for you, you and you. Considering the fact that the Mister and I are about to go on an enforced holiday, and neither of us have full-time jobs (I’m casual, he’s a contracter), we don’t get any holiday pay, so now would be an excellent time to buy it from my Etsy store.

Like a heartbeat baby, trying to wake up…

The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonight

I’ve been working my way through the 500+ RSS feeds that have been collecting in my browser the past few weeks, and I found a pattern that’s perfect for my Gryffindor sock yarn!

So, Harry is in Gryffindor, and he’s a parseltongue. What better sock pattern could there be than… the Sidewinders. It’s just too perfect. Plus I got gauge on my first try.

(Thanks to Kris for the link.)
