Pipe dreams.
I had to take this photo with the uni camera today, and I’ve officially declared it the Worst. Camera. Ever.
Seriously, it shouldn’t take ten shots to get one half decent picture…
Anyway, I’ve been trying to get this copper pipe cut down for me since Wednesday, and I only just got it today. But it’s perfect and the tech from Industrial Design (on the level below us) took time out to do it for me, and he certainly didn’t have to, so I’m very thankful.
What I’m less thankful for is having the acid room locked on me halfway through etching the pipes. Today is Friday. Set up is on Monday. The studio isn’t open on weekends. A certain someone who trusts me (and shall remain nameless) had given me permission to keep the room open after hours so I could finish everything up, but later on one of the other staff took all my stuff out, and told me to get anything else out of the ferric because the room had to be locked right at that very minute. I only had a few more things to go, and now I’m shitty because I can’t finish making my kaleidoscopes this weekend, and will have to jam everything in on Monday when I’m supposed to be done and setting my work up ready for assessment.
Grrr. Argh.

R is for Rest and R is for Ravelry
In one week’s time — One. Week. — I will be on holiday from uni for four months.
And while I love uni, I can’t express strongly enough how much I’m looking forward to those four months. Aside from working, the very first thing I plan to do is take photos of my entire yarn stash to catalogue on Ravelry. I’m so geekily enamoured by the mere thought of doing this that you should probably all just disown me right now.
This one’s already there. I accidentally bought it a couple of weeks ago, and it’s now in the Jaywalker metamorphosis process.

Let’s bend light.
Just a quick note to say “Hah!” to all those people who laughed when I said I was going to perform magic shoot my animation in a day.
It’s shot, and is currently being edited. Vetti, what night would you and Joffa like to come over for dinner and voice-over recording?
I also managed to take some more Photo of the Day shots, playing with the cool light and shadows on my bathroom wall…
Gotta get ready for work now…

Other people shouldn’t play with the big kids.
Don’t you just love it when people (being students from other areas who only take one printmaking class) don’t follow the basic OH&S practices (that they learned at the start of the semester, and are attached to the side of the press) and not only hurt themselves, but everybody else in the process…?
Yesterday a group of students weren’t operating the etching press as they should (during class time, but ours, not theirs) and it resulted in a visit to the emergency ward. Now there are rumours floating around that because of this, all our access to the studios after hours will be cut. Meaning no printing after 5pm for anyone. With only two weeks to go until assessment, we’re all finding it rather difficult to have any sympathy for the person with the split open fingers…

I can play with the big kids now!
Lookee! I’ve graduated from using desk lamps to “real” lights for shooting my animations! These are called Dedo lights, and I’ve borrowed a set of three from uni — they have fun stuff like dimmers and barn doors!
