a new leaf

So, nablopomo ends today. I can’t say I’ve made any groundbreaking posts, and it was an extremely difficult month for me time wise, but I’m glad I did it. I probably would have made a total of two entries if I hadn’t. I’ll try and keep it up (and with better content) as I find blogging to be a really helpful tool in keeping me on track and organised with my work. It really allows me to take stock of and appreciate all the things that I do.

In other news, I’ll be spending this week giving my entire website a major overhaul. I’ve already taken down all the old pages and put up a new homepage. A bunch of the links are broken at the moment, but that will change soon enough. I’d really like to figure out how to fancy things like make a box that resizes to fit the text into it. Because I really don’t know how to do that stuff. Any tips?

Not at all like riding a bike.

The Ordered by Chance show at first site has been extremely popular so far. I sat the gallery this afternoon, and by the looks of it, we’ve had about 650 people through the doors already.

As a result, almost all the catalogues are gone (and it’s a beautiful, beautiful catalogue) and as my URL is in the catalogue, I’m now in a state of panic trying to update the website so it doesn’t look so clunky and isn’t showing work that’s over three years old.

Turns out I’ve pretty much completely forgotten how to code.

Hopefully I’ll have something in a day or two that’s decent enough to put up, but in the meantime I’m going to finish watching this history of Pixar documentary, which I’m thinking of as job research. Hopefully they’ll look past my complete lack of coding skills.

Just incase…

…I forget to post when I get home.

Getting ready for Girls Boys Machines screening now.

Am slightly terrified.

This is the first time anyone bar me, Mr Crumpet and my lecturers have seen this work. And the lecturers haven’t even seen the full finished piece, just the hastily edited animation that I showed in assessment. So it’s just me and Mr Crumpet, really.

I hope it doesn’t suck. I don’t really know anymore…

When the water came off her, it was brown.

When Tom’s not busy sitting around looking pretty, he is busy nomming on Stella. (Probably because she sometimes accidentally wees on his head, and he needs to get her back for that, obviously.)

So, because Stella was so coated in dried up Tom spit, I decided that today was time for…

bathtime

A bath.

She doesn’t like being washed. But she does enjoy her time outside after the bath, running around like a crazy dog, rolling all over the grass, playing games with me as I chase her with the towel, and finally, sitting down to chew on a bone.

post-bath

It’s a hard life, being a puppy.

recovery

Last night was awesome. The gallery was packed out (and very hot), the food was brilliant and it was loads of fun.

I drank far too much beer.

Unfortunately I couldn’t slack off too much today. I went in to uni and helped clean up a little (although I missed most of the actual cleanup part and pretty much just carried some boxes of glasses back to the studio), had some Indian food for lunch and picked up my computer and camera that I’d locked in the studio overnight. Came home, spent some time on the internet, walked the dogs and then headed back to the city for a friend’s going away dinner.

All in all I’ve walked about 7km today in 30 degree Celsius heat while hungover. The first to tram trips of the day were spent sitting in a daze listening to the soothing tones of Josh Pyke…

The next two tram trips I expanded my playlist a little, and started a new sock. Something soothing and simple to get me through the day and the three gallery sittings that are coming up over the next two weeks. Judy’s Magic Cast-On truly is magic.

Future sock.

hanging

Got the show mostly hung today, with a few lighting tweaks and such to do tomorrow. Am in middle of baking cupcakes for opening. Yum.
